Bento was born in Jacobina, Bahia (Brazil), in 1971, a city situated
between mountains and the slope of the Chapada Diamantina.
He grew up with his mother (and sisters) growing plants in the garden
... Orchids, lace-Portuguese and ferns. Many ferns are still pending
nostalgic, whistling ...
He also lived in Salvador and then in Sao Paulo, where he moved to
study Architecture. Along the way, the dream of being a "construction
worker" and build houses changed - actually he wanted to investigate
the human foundations.
Lime turned into ink: Studied Art History and Philosophy, but always
feeling as a foreigner, preferred the quiet and proper way that a
self-taught student experiences, manufactures and plots with his
improvised and tenuous tools.
He also writes poems. He's currently living in São Paulo, but may move to another city
where there are the plants he grew with. Therefore Under the leaves of those tender branches, he continues to lead his life.
Or his dream, his mirage, his rapture.
He is crazy about by Virginia Woolf, and also by Schopenhauer,
Marguerite Duras, Proust, Nina Simone and of course ... Beethoven, Mahler, Górecki ...
He goes through the night painting and listening to the sound of
Madredeus Group.
He lives with his Labrador Caymmi, cats and some plants. But at home he has no of those old ...
Ferns that he saves in his soul.
The ferns and old plants are in the garden of his memory, where, from his window
and through the wind, the night enters and whispers slowly.
